The POWERADE Challenge was a 9km interactive fitness course in Auckland’s CBD, turning an existing popular running route into a new and engaging training platform.
After registering online, runners were sent an RFID bracelet, used to check in at two specially marked vending machines. The RFID bracelet allowed us to track their times and personally encourage the runners via a large digital billboard.
At the end of the course, runners received a bottle of POWERADE from the vending machine and their times recorded and uploaded to the website leaderboard, where runners could check their stats and compare themselves to the All Blacks and each other.
The POWERADE Challenge won a silver award for 'Best Use of Ambient Media: Large Scale' and a bronze award for 'Integrated Media Campaign' in the media category at the 2011 Spikes Asia Awards.
